Better understanding for better action

The LAB Compétence et Territoire is a young association created in 2024 in Le Mans. Our ambition? To explore, experiment and connect in order to support social, ecological and democratic transitions, drawing on human and territorial resources.

Our purpose

A focus on skills and local dynamics

We start from the ground up: residents, communities, local organisations, researchers, etc.

What we have in common: a desire to uncover individual and collective skills and develop useful, realistic and sustainable solutions for local areas.

The LAB CT acts as a space for action-based research, experimentation and cooperation.

‘What if we took the time to better understand our regions so we could better support them through the transition?’

— The core of our approach

What makes us special

What makes us unique

A cross-cutting and interdisciplinary approach: we bring together the perspectives of elected officials, grassroots actors, researchers and residents.

Strong local roots, but a desire to share ideas and methods.

An attitude of active exploration: the right to test, learn and adjust.
